Default Ice Cream Gel

Does anyone know the gel that people use for the store bought ice cream cakes? I have an ice cream machine & have made a few cakes, but have yet to find out what gel is used for those types of cakes.

hi Verdman, welcome! The search term you're looking for is "piping gel" and you can buy it from many places online, either already colored in tubes or as a tub of clear gel that you color yourself. But it's really just thickened corn syrup, so you might want to try making it yourself. Check out this Craftsy article for details. And let us know how it goes, I love seeing everyone's creations!

@TheEmpressOfIceCream, thank you for your reply. Actually this is the exact link I found about a month ago & used it for my cakes. So it worked out well & much better than that awful tasting stuff that Wilton puts out. I didn't have imitation vanilla extract, I had the real vanilla extract, so it had some color to it, but still worked out fine.
